Raw Milk At Home

Hey there, Caitlyn Willhaus from The Modern Menagerie here!

We've been getting some questions about raw milk, as it's new to many of you. We wanted to share some information that'll help you find the best way to enjoy it in your home.

Our raw milk is taken straight from the cows (Barbara, Marsha and Violet ), strained, put into jugs and immediately chilled When it gets to you, you might notice it separating! Our milk is not taken through any homogenization processing, so it's in its natural state and will seperate the cream to the top and skim milk on the bottom.

You can do a couple things with this:

Skim the cream to add to your coffee

Skim the cream to make butter

Or just shake your jug to mix it back in before you pour a glass

Keep your raw milk in the coolest part of your fridge to keep it fresh (psst - in the door is normally the warmest part) and it'll last about 10 days past the milking date If you aren't able to use all your milk in that time frame, don't be afraid to freeze some! Just leave enough room in your container for expansion when freezing. Then pop it back in the fridge for a couple days to unthaw when you're ready to drink the rest. Shake well or run it through a blender, as it likes to really seperate after freezing.

You can use your milk to make other things too like yogurt or cottage cheese! The possibilities are endless.
